Contemplation

Thirteenth Station of the Cross, Frederick Charles Shrady, 1907 - 1990. Contemplative Life The Thirteenth Station.

Thirteenth Station of the Cross by Frederick Charles Shrady, 1907 - 1990.

No quick release. Even the Highest Priest
Will be down only when the time is right;
The time for the sanctity of the feast,
As the mockers scurry into the night.
Secret disciple in fear of the Jews
And the Pharisee of aloes and myrrh,
The first Christian act was not yours to choose,
But directed in devotion to Her
Who looked on silently under the rood.
La Donna Della Finestra receive
The blood become wine and flesh become food.
Before this alter we grieve and believe
And accept the holy presence is real,
As supplicant, before the Host, we kneel.

John Dunn.
